A Formidable Force

Friday evening we were treated to Jamie's smiling face, and John's hilarious stories at our dinner table when the Crases made a traffic-break pitstop in Kirkland as they headed back home after the first chemo session. I just have to say that seeing them Friday reminded me again of what a formidable force they are—strong and prepared, with their senses of humor firmly in place.

Jamie looked amazing, even though she claimed to have "bed head" from laying down during treatment. It was wonderful to see her laughing, walking around, and in "civilian" clothes again. And, it was fun to see John's "Jamie comfort amenities" packed in the truck—he takes such wonderful care of her.

Just a quick first-hand account to tide over all the blog-hungry addicts out there (I count myself among you)... until the next missive from one or both of our Dynamic Duo!

Thanks Katrina - this was just what we needed. :) You don't realize how many times you are checking this until there isn't an update!

Jamie & John,

David & I just made a fresh batch of strawberry jam. With the very first berries from Puyallup. David will give one of the truck drivers a big pint tomorrow and hopefully it will get to your mom in Lacey and she can bring it to you. David kept stirring and stirring and we made over 20 pints! So just let us know if you need more. Peach jam will be ready in August.
I forgot to add in how we know Jamie & John. My husband, David works for Capital in Key Center and Jamie designed the most beautiful kitchen cabinets for my fabulous kitchen. Really it's absolutely beautiful. And she had a very large hand in designing it. It's my favorite place in my little world, next to my jacuzzi bath tub and heated tile floor. Jamie a poster of Australia is on it's way to me this week! Have John tack it up on the ceiling so when you go to sleep or wake up it's the first thing you see. That should put a smile on your face.

Thanks Katrina!!!

Jamie- Mom, Dad and Grandma said they stopped by for a visit this afternoon. It sounds like they kept you awake for awhile:) We were at their house giving Katelyn a bath in the big jacuzzi tub. What a dream that tub must be. That little girl would love to spend hours in that thing. If only our old houses could fit a tub like that!!

Well it is countdown time, only 9 more days of school, then I will be working on my thesis and coming to visit you during the day.

I hope you will be feeling better soon and everything will get a little easier for you, now that you know what to expect. I hope you can begin to relax a little. Sunny days should be around the corner, and when you can, you should take a walk out in your beautiful yard. I think I know just the thing you will need!!! Katelyn and I will be on a new hunt to get this perfect thing. You will have to wait to see.....

Hi Jamie -

Hope you enjoyed some of that afternoon sunshine yesterday! Maybe you'll even have some of your own strawberries to eat this summer? I've got some new reading material for you (really just pictures to look at, but don't tell John) and can't wait to give you a hug. I'll call on my way home today to see if you are up for it.

Love,
Anne

Hi Jamie, I haven't been commenting as much lately because I feel I keep repeating myself saying that you are constantly in my thoughts and I am forever checking the blog to see how things are going. I am glad things are going as well as can be expected:) You are so strong and brave. I love reading the comments and of course the posts.

Sorry to have missed the "meal pick-up" while you were up Friday. Good news is that now I have Slow Cooker Taco Soup to add to the meals I am sending to you! It's fabulous.

Don't forget to check my blog in the next day or two. As you know I chopped off my hair (not quite enough to give to Locks of Love) but I am getting it cut even shorter Tuesday morning AND I got new glasses which I have 14 days to decide if I like. I will post a pic and get some feedback before my time is up:) So far, Chris likes them and Abby loves them:)

Anyways, stay strong, let me know if you have any special requests (meals, cookies, or otherwise).
Hope to see you soon,
Jen

...OK, that didn't come out right....the REASON I keep repeating myself (that you are constantly in my thoughts, etc.) is because you ARE!!! Seriously.

Jamie

I am glad to hear you are doing well. I check in daily to see how you are, and I also find myself asking Jennifer and your mom (when I see her) if they have talked to you. I am always trying to get the latest and greatest news. I think Jennifer's idea to make a trip to your mom and dad's house when your feeling a little better is a great idea. Don't worry my dad won't check the mole traps while your sitting there enjoying the peace and quite. If you get tired of the girl movies I still think you should start playing John's Xbox until you can beat him at his own games! If you need a Cribbage board I have a great looking Washington State University board I can loan you. In fact I might be so inclined to give it to you just for the satisfaction of knowing that you would have some WSU Cougar memorabilia in your house. Have a great day and make sure to get your rest, its important! =0)
