Super Woman

Okay, not to toot my own horn again, but I was told yesterday that I am super stud (my interpretation). I guess that I am somewhat of an anomaly at SCCA. Of those they have put on the protocol study, only two people have been able to make it through. Me being one!! Dr. Goff said I was doing remarkably well and feels like my IP chemo will also go well.

She warned me that it's 20 hours of Taxol followed by a couple of hours of Cisplatin (different from the carbo I am getting now) followed by shaking in the bed and rolling over and lots of bathroom breaks. All told I should be at UW for about 36 hours. She plans on giving me 4-6 courses of IP, which she is pretty confident I will be able to take all six, three weeks apart. She said she didn't want to kid me, it will be tough, but what she has seen me do this round, she's pretty sure I will make it.

Heidi, the nurse extraordinaire, also said I was a power woman and tooted my horn some more. She said I looked great, and had a great attitude. I hear it from all of you who comment, but it is nice to hear from someone totally objective too. All in all, yesterday was a pretty big ego boost for me. Even with the joint pain, I left Seattle feeling pretty elated and promptly came home and went for a swim!

Wow, Jamie . . . it's only 7:24 and you're up! Man, this 'morning thing' must be here to stay!

So good to see you last night. So good to see you looking so good. Snatches of that song keep running through my head: I am woman I am strong . . . . in ways that are too great to ignore. can't remember all the words but those two phrases make me smile and think of you.

You have been doing great and every time I see you in with your band-ana's on it makes me think of some tough biker. Well I know your not a tough Harley biker person, but you are defiantly one of the strongest people I have ever met. Ok so enough playing around, time to get serious for this next round of IP. You can do it!

If you and John need any help with the rabbits or Shorty while Jennifer is out of town just let me know and I can help out. I know I will not be able to give the rabbits the love Jennifer and Katelyn do, but I will try my best.

We are so glad you are doing well. Do you need more strawberry jam? I am making peach jam next. I will send some up soon.

Way to go girl! You have exceeded all of my expectations of what cancer treatment would be like for you. Give yourself a big pat on the back. Job well done!

Jamie-

I don't have to tell you how amazing you are....but I will...YOU ARE AMAZING!!! I hope your daily swims are treating you quite well. I will have to practice my backstroke or you will be kicking my butt next time we go swimming.

Katelyn and I are enjoying the heat in Arizona. We got up early this AM and took a dip at the clubhouse pool with the other kids. This turned out to be helpful, because one of the old ladies let us in on a little secret, a new water park just down the street. Katelyn and I immediately got out of the pool before roasted ourselves and headed to the find this "amazing park with buckets of water that dump on your head. We found it and met some wonderful kids for Katelyn to play with.

Katelyn is taking her long afternoon nap, I think all the swimming tuckers her out. I am glad to hear swimming does the opposite for you:)

Love you and keep us posted.

Glad to hear you are doing so well. You're a real trooper.
We are staying close to the phone these days for a call to come take care of Ruby, so her little brother or sister can arrive.
Will connect soon in person, I hope.

Love, J & D

You are awesome, and you can come back to your blog anytime you need a reminder as to how much you are loved and how excited you were about your progress. Now you know you have it in you!! With Dr. Goff's confidence you can go into each round knowing that you're getting closer to beating the big "C."

Funny, but it will be weird to see you with hair in '08. You've been rocking the bald look so well you might even miss it.... ;)

Love,
Anne

Jamie-

Glad to talk to you today!!! You made it through the chemo case study, way to go! Now you get to look forward to your camping/hiking trip. It sounds like a good hike, I can't wait to hear about your adventure. Just remember...don't try to be Super WOMEN all the time, you can ask for John to carry your pack.

Hope you made it to the pool today! You will be lapping me next time we go.

Aunt Janet and Maggie told me to tell you hello, so "hello from California."

Hi Jamie,
Sorry to be out of touch. It sounds like you are doing just great and good luck with the IP round. Keep up the good attitude and you will fly thru it. Happy anniversary to you both and of course, many more. We're working on 42 and Pete and Kathy 41. How time flies.

I have been busy cheer leading for my friend Ann Marie who has unoperable throat cancer. She is on the downhill side of radiation and had to stop chemo for the interim. Unable to eat and can hardly swallow. They inserted a feeding tube last week and that should help with her weight loss. Hopefully, she is gong to make it. We'll see.
Other than that, we're all doing great and looking forward to Pete and Kathy's next visit. James was here for the week and I had forgotten how much a 6'4" can eat.
Take care, good luck and hello to John and all pets. Love, LeaAnne
